Children’s Counseling

A safe place for processing big feelings.

Children do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling or what they have been through. Big emotions, loss, trauma, stressful changes, or relationship struggles can be hard for a child to understand - and just as hard for a parent to know how to help.

Specialized children's counseling gives kids a safe place to express how they feel, process their experiences, and build healthy ways to cope. Children often communicate differently than adults, so therapy may involve toys, art, storytelling, games, and other forms of creative expression to meet them at their individual developmental level. For children who have experienced trauma, EMDR can be integrated when appropriate.

Centered For Life encourages parents to make space for their own counseling, too. Parenting can bring up parts of your own story that deserve care. You can even schedule your own counseling appointment at the same time as their child's appointment, making it easier to support both of you without adding another trip to your busy week.
